Citroen is banking on the success at Manufacturers Against the Clock in the FIA WTCC DHL Race in Qatar on the private win of Sebastien Loeb Racing by Mehdi Bennani, Tom Chilton and Gregoire Demoustier.
While the French manufacturer has brought in an SLR driver for each WTCC MAC3 event that has been played so far in 2016, it will be the first time it has not recruited its two factory drivers, Jose Maria Lopez and Yvan Muller.
A statement from Citroen said: "Citroen Racing will be grateful to the SLR pilots who have helped them secure the manufacturers' title, including all of them in their timeline." That means Mehdi Bennani, Tom Chilton and Gregoire Demoustier will be the men on track, applauded from the margins by Jose Maria Lopez and Yvan Muller."
Citroen has four WTCC MAC3 direct wins compared to the five claimed by their closest competitor. They tied in time in the WTCC Race of Slovakia at the beginning of the season.
